Forest Landowner Foundation History
The Forest Landowner Foundation was founded on August 12, 1986 as the Education and Research Foundation.
The first Board Members to serve on the Foundation's Board of Trustees in 1986 were:
- Dr. John H. Bowen
- Peggy Clark
- Gerald Lee
- Bill Oettmeier, Jr.
- Ken D. Bailey
- Jack Warren
- Eley Frazer
Printing and distributing the Woodland Owners Correspondence Course to southern extension forestry departments for their use with timberland owners and the general public was the first project of the foundation.
The Foundation began sponsoring scholarships in 1987 for high school students to attend the Forestry and Wildland Resources Institute at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
